All fish between 13” and 16”. Most were caught on nymphs with the others on an Elk hair Caddis. Good to be back on the Wye.

Fabulous day on this stunning part of the river.
Although I didn't manage to tempt any of the decent sized trout I saw, however, 5 good sized Grayling more than made up for it. Very few rises and those were mostly 'splashy' small fish.
Tried prospecting with dries and dry/dropper set ups but took all the fish on self-tied bead head nymphs (PTN & GRHE).
Access to the lower part of the beat is relatively easy but if you fish the top section I'd suggest using the right bank by walking around the houses marked on the map as access is much easier.
Definitely worth a return visit in the hope of some trout!

Had a few hours on one of my favourite Grayling beats. River in great condition, just settling down after a lot of rain, with just a little colour. Took 4 Grayling, 3 of which were a good size, one about 1 and 1/2 lb. All taken on a black and bronze jig pattern

They tell me it was warmer today but my toes beg to differ on that one ! The water was also very low and crystal clear making it a little tricky in some of the spots. I caught all the fish in just one area in the morning, could'nt find anything on the rest of the beat all afternoon. Got a bit windy by then but i did'nt mind it had been a good day. Fish all caught on nymphs, biggest grayling 17".

Always like this beat, good variety of water A day for czech nymphing in the deep gutter that runs along bottom half of beat.
Good grayling at about 2 lbs caught on an orange pheasant tail nymph One good fish lost on a size 12 pink shrimp
Great day until the rain set in about 2.00pm and the level started to rise. Stayed at Caer Beris, excellent as usual!

as much as i love this beat, when the water is high it is very difficult and somewhat dangerous too fish ! ( 8.5 on ddol gauge )
luckily it was crystal clear so i could see where i was going but it was running so fast it was hard too stand ! and to cap it all the wind got up during the morning and filled the river up with leaves !. somehow i managed to catch a tiny grayling later on which somewhat saved the day.
