SN had 2 grayling on a dry. His first ever so he was happy. AP had 3 grayling and a small brownie on nymphs.

Warm with sunny intervals. River nice flow a little coloured. Grayling caught on red shrimp and beaded brown hears ear.
Note, beware for barbed wire where fencing has colapsed and been dragged into the field. Not a problem but easy to miss when watching the river.
Good day.

What a lovely stretch of stream. First time on the beat and the level was up with the water coloured from recent rain. Visibly was 6-12 inches making reading a new river very hard. I shall definitely be back to try and my luck in better conditions.
Even having no idea what was under my feet, wading was very easy with regular styles over the barbed-wire fences.

Started soon after 9 to get in before the newly forecast rain!. Overcast, cool and damp so explored some of the deeper water with golden beaded hares ear and pheasant tail nymphs. Strangely only the OOS trout were interested x3 8-11inches - quickly returned. Heavy rain started soon after 11 and fished on for an hour but then retreated.

What a stunning part of the lugg! Having fished the lugg for trout in the upper reaches I thought I would have a go for some grayling. I had no idea this part of the lugg held so many! Absolutely fantastic sport they are to! I started out by catching 2 oos wbt one to a dry and one to a nymph. I carried on nymphing and caught several small grayling around 6-8 inches. Spotted the odd fish rising and didn't take much convincing to switch to the dry fly. I soon started picking up a better stamp of fish with the biggest being 12" or so. Couldn't help but wonder why there are so many grayling here and hardly any trout? As for wildlife I see kingfishers, dippers and a mink carrying a piece of fish. Thank you W&U keep up the good work.

nice day on the lugg with air pressure perfect and water up slightly . most grayling came from the oxygenated water french nymphing with single cinnamon baetis size 18 jig with 2,5mm tungsten bead. size wise varied with several 8-12 inch fish , a handful around the fourteen inch mark one at sixteen and one bruiser 18-19 inches which was the first of the day second cast. another couple of inches on the gauge would of been perfect but can,t grumble with a decent catch return. all trout healthy and hard fighting. i dropped back below the bridge at 4pm to the pool in front of the holiday cottage and was hoping for a steady rise of fish to the midges swarming but sadly other than four to size 22 midge pattern they never really switched on. all in all a good day had.
