Sunny, warm and very low water. Occasional fish showing but lack of flow made it impossible (for me) to present a fly well.
In the afternoon , despite the river being on its bones, a canoeist 'paddled' in front of me - scraping across rocks with his paddle hitting the river bed. Unbelievable really.
I asked him what he was thinking but needless to say he didn't respond particularly well.

Fished 13.00 to 17.00. River very slow and low. With just a few spinners here and there it was extremely quiet. Next to nothing rising so fished prospective dries in likely creases and seams where there was some current. Hooked and lost one BT and missed another. Increasing spells of sunshine made for a warm and pleasant afternoon on the river even if it was dead and unproductive.

Fished around lower limit 1.30pm to 5.30pm. Had six takes, including good-sized fish that leapt before throwing my hook. Half the time with klinkhammer trailing small nymph, and the other half wet flies. Didn’t see any fish rising but a few backflips, which suggests to my amateur eye they are eating something just below the surface. Clearly my hook setting needs some work.

1 small brown taken with wet fly. Some large riding fish near lower limit in the afternoon, but failed to entice them with dry flies. Beautiful place to fish.

Too hot to fish…water temps too high. Ticket should not have been issued. River closed the following day
