A strange day's fishing - I started with a dry fly on the dropper and a nymph on the point and on my very first cast in a deep shady pool caught 2 trout at the same time - both about 1.5 lbs! Both released. The rest of the day I caught nothing, despite trying a variety of dries and nymphs, although I did spook a 2lb+ trout in the tail of another deep pool. And I saw a couple very small fish rise that I couldn't tempt. Not many fish in evidence, but ones that are there seem big. River low, about 17 degrees, sunny at first then overcast later.

A beautiful but tricky beat, the trout were more interested in sun bathing in the pool tails than feeding. Fish taken on a Griffiths Gnat.

Hooked and lost a couple of fish at the bottom, one which was quite a good one. Then took a fish on the middle beat, before increasingly heavy showers finished the day.

Tough conditions with the river low and clear and the sun shinning. Late afternoon a few fish started rising and I managed three good sized fish to a dry (John Barnes Jingler) with a couple of other larger fish lost.

Bright sun and clear water made for tricky conditions. There are still access issues along the lower section and I had to ask a none-too-happy farmer to walk through their garden on the way up and back down the beat to avoid clambering over barbed wire fences. 7 wbt on dry fly and nymph. Most were 1/2 - 3/4lbs but I managed one larger fish weighing 3lbs at 22inches. Very hard work with most of the risers in flat water or tucked away beneath overhanging branches.
